Curator Terms & Responsibilities

Elevate the sound. Understand your role in the Sell Your Sound ecosystem and help define the next generation of musical discovery.

Curators are independent participants in the Sell Your Sound marketplace who evaluate music submitted directly to them by artists. Curators are expected to provide honest, independent evaluations based on their musical preferences, professional judgment, audience, and stated submission criteria.

Payment for a submission guarantees consideration and review only. It does not guarantee playlist placement, radio airplay, publication, promotion, positive feedback, or acceptance.

Curators are not employees, agents, or representatives of Sell Your Sound and may not represent themselves as such.

01. Timely Response Standards

Curators must review and respond to assigned submissions within 72 hours, unless Sell Your Sound has approved or displayed a different response period.

Each submission must receive genuine consideration. Curators may not reject submissions without reasonably evaluating the music or accept submissions without genuine consideration simply to increase their acceptance rate.

Repeated failure to review submissions within the required timeframe may result in reduced marketplace visibility, temporary suspension of new submissions, loss of curator privileges, or removal from Sell Your Sound.

Curation Standards & Sonic Integrity

Curators must independently and honestly evaluate each submission based on musical quality, personal taste, audience suitability, genre compatibility, and their stated submission preferences.

Payment for a submission guarantees review and consideration only. It does not guarantee acceptance, playlist placement, radio airplay, publication, promotion, positive feedback, or any other outcome.

Curators may not accept submissions solely to increase their acceptance rate or reject submissions without reasonably evaluating the music.

Marketplace Integrity & Anti-Manipulation

Sell Your Sound may calculate and display curator statistics including acceptance rate, response rate, submission volume, response time, and placement activity.

Curators may not manipulate these statistics through artificial submissions, alternate accounts, coordinated or reciprocal acceptances, false placement reports, or other deceptive activity. Curators may not purchase, fabricate, or misrepresent followers, listeners, streams, views, engagement, playlist reach, or other audience statistics.

Artificial streaming, bots, stream farms, fake followers, automated engagement, and other fraudulent methods of inflating audience activity are prohibited.

Standard Protocol 04

Workflow Guidelines

Curators are responsible for keeping their profile accurate and reasonably current, including genres, playlists, platforms, audience information, submission preferences, promotional opportunities, and AI-content policies.

Curators may choose whether they accept traditionally produced, AI-assisted, or AI-generated music. These preferences must be accurately displayed on their profile.

When a curator accepts a submission for a stated placement or promotional opportunity, they must make a good-faith effort to provide that opportunity and may not advertise services, playlists, publications, stations, or audiences they do not legitimately control or represent.

Queue Management & Response Protocol

Feedback Requirements

Feedback must be honest, relevant, and specific to the submitted track. Artists should receive a reasonable explanation of the curator's decision, particularly when a submission is declined.

Generic, misleading, irrelevant, or repeatedly copied feedback is not permitted. Tools may be used to assist with writing or editing feedback, but the evaluation and final decision must reflect the curator's genuine assessment of the music.

Curators may never request additional payment, gifts, services, or other compensation in exchange for positive feedback or acceptance.

Confidentiality Agreement

Information received through Sell Your Sound may only be used for legitimate activities related to reviewing and managing submissions.

Curators may not sell, publish, distribute, disclose, or misuse private artist information, submission details, communications, platform information, or other non-public information obtained through Sell Your Sound.

Artist contact information may not be used for unrelated marketing, spam, solicitation, or unauthorized commercial purposes. These confidentiality obligations continue after participation on the platform ends where applicable.

Financial Terms & Revenue

Standard Curators receive 65% of eligible submission revenue. Founding Curators receive 70% of eligible submission revenue, subject to the requirements of their applicable curator program.

Additional bonuses or incentives may be offered based on published qualification requirements. Acceptance targets never require a curator to accept music they genuinely believe is unsuitable.

Curators are responsible for maintaining accurate payout and tax information and for taxes applicable to their earnings. Refunds, chargebacks, fraudulent transactions, payment reversals, processing adjustments, or legally required withholding may affect amounts eligible for payout.

Payout schedules and available payment methods will be communicated by Sell Your Sound.

Liability & Risk

Curators participate as independent entities and are not employees, agents, or authorized representatives of Sell Your Sound. Curators may operate on other music platforms and maintain independent businesses or services.

Curators must communicate professionally and may not engage in harassment, threats, unlawful discrimination, fraud, retaliation, or deceptive conduct.

Curators may not request additional payment as a condition of reviewing or accepting a submission purchased through Sell Your Sound or deliberately redirect SYS transactions for the primary purpose of avoiding applicable platform fees.

Legal & Ownership

Intellectual Property Rights

All submitted music remains the property of its respective rights holders. Submission through Sell Your Sound does not transfer ownership of the music to a curator.

Curators may access submitted material solely for legitimate review, consideration, and authorized promotional activity.

Unauthorized copying, downloading, redistribution, sale, publication, licensing, or other exploitation of submitted music or related materials is prohibited.

Audits, Enforcement & Termination

Sell Your Sound may periodically review curator activity to protect artists, curators, and marketplace integrity. Reviews may include response times, feedback quality, acceptance patterns, placements, audience information, and other relevant platform activity. These reviews are not intended to dictate individual musical taste.

Violations may result in a warning, required correction, reduced marketplace visibility, temporary suspension of submissions, loss of bonuses or promotional status, account suspension, or termination.

Serious misconduct—including fraud, deliberate statistical manipulation, artificial streaming, theft or unauthorized distribution of artist material, or intentional payment circumvention—may result in immediate suspension or termination.

Curators may voluntarily leave the platform subject to resolution of outstanding submissions, payments, disputes, and continuing confidentiality or intellectual-property obligations.

Terms & Policy Revisions

Sell Your Sound may update these Curator Terms & Responsibilities as the platform, services, payment systems, or legal requirements evolve.

Material changes affecting curator compensation or significant responsibilities will be communicated through the platform, registered email address, or another reasonable method. Changes necessary to address fraud, security threats, legal requirements, payment-provider requirements, or platform abuse may take effect immediately when reasonably necessary.

Continued participation after revised terms become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated terms where permitted by applicable law.
